Tea Party Patriots response to the 2012 State of the Union Speech.
Ahwatukee Tea Party General Meeting
Wednesday February 15, 2012 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Pecos Community Center (17010 S. 48th Street, Phoenix)
Speaker: DC George on the U.S. Redistribution of the Wealth
Candidate: Denny Barney, County Board of Supervisors, District #1
Candidate: Travis Grantham, US Congress
On Feb 15th, D.C. George will discuss “US Redistribution of Wealth”: Since 1964, the US has spent $16 Trillion dollars on the “War on Poverty”, and yet the number of Americans living in poverty has remained around 15%. D.C. will explain why that number is fixed, and why increased spending will not change that number. He will also discuss other forms of government redistribution, why they continue to grow, and why they must be contained.
D. C. George has worked for 25 years helping companies turn new technologies into new products and new product lines. He is especially skilled at looking at complicated issues, analyzing huge amounts of data, figuring out what is important, and communicating in a way anyone can understand.

Although there is plenty to do here in Arizona, here is an interesting volunteer opportunity that you can do at home. From True the Vote:
Wisconsin is in the midst of a petition effort to recall Gov Scott Walker. The Government Accountability Board of Wisconsin has stated they do not have the resources necessary to verify the petition signatures. In response, True the Vote, together with Wisconsin Grandsons of Liberty and We the People of the Republic launched a national effort, asking citizens across the country to help with the data entry work necessary to ensure the signatures can be properly verified. We have hundreds of thousands of signatures to review and limited time in which to do it. Will you help? If so, please sign up at:
This effort is not about politics. It is about principle. It is about citizens across the country standing in the gap of government; serving together to assure free and fair elections for all.
If our elections are not truly fair, we are not truly free.

If you would like to learn more about the state legislative process, plan to attend one of the following free “Understanding Your State Legislature” workshops:
The workshops, presented by the City of Phoenix Office of Government Relations, will offer an overview of the state legislative process and how to become involved in decisions made at the state legislature. Tips also will be presented on effective lobbying techniques and information on how to use technology to track legislation.
Two state lawmakers will be invited to attend the sessions to offer their advice on how to effectively communicate with legislators and how the decisions they make impact your neighborhood.
The free workshops are offered to help demystify the legislative process and encourage public involvement from neighborhood groups and residents to create public policy. Seating is limited. To register for one of the workshops, call 602-256-4257 or visit phoenix.gov/intergov/workshop.html.
